Our Big Day Part 1

Buckle up folks, she's going to be a lengthy read...

The wedding day began much like our other mornings had begun on our balmy Bali getaway. Breakfast & coffee. Strong, grainy, black coffee.

Stepping outside of our suite & into the warm sunshine, squinting up at the sky & seeing not one single cloud, left me breathing a big sigh of relief. Obstacle 1; weather. Check.

As we sat down and ordered our eggs, I took a moment to recognise the range of feelings going on inside my tense tummy. Number 1; excited. 2; slightly nauseous. 3; ready. I pushed my food around the plate for a good 15 minutes before I gave up on the idea of eating and headed back to our villa for a dip in the pool.

9am rolled around and Aimee and I were due at the spa to get our nails done. Opting for OPI's bubble bath for the fingertips, and a bright red gel number for my tootsies to match my lippy..

Post spa we meandered lazily back to the villa to touch base and see where everyone & everything was at. At this point it all felt a bit surreal, like today was just like any other day, like nothing big was actually happening at all. This feeling lasted right up until the moment we stepped back into our villa & saw the flurry of movement happening everywhere...

The wedding planner with attached mic darting about, lighting technicians running hundreds of cables, furniture movers setting up tables & chairs galore, florists hunched under a table preparing bouquets, a tiny Balinese man nailing together our arch, two apparently random women steaming all of our gears, the two hairdressers preparing their tools, and on top of that we had our small but fierce nanny Nancy chasing the children, our families flouncing around by the pool watching the action in awe, and finally all five of my gals had arrived (Tali is a token bridesmaid), we were ready to rock and roll.

But first, food. It was now 11am & zee ol tum was grumbling rather loudly, so Aimee, Kate and I decided to take a quick lunch break to the restaurant. The first person we bumped into over there was Oli (we weren't supposed to see each other all day until the ceremony), and after a few laughs, I shoo'ed him off, gave him a quick peck on the cheek, and told him I would see his sweet ass later. Watching him walk away (like a creep), I felt another strong wave of nerves & nausea. So what did I order to combat the nausea? A giant beef burger and chips. The burger was bloody good, don't get me wrong, juicy & crisp &  delightful, but it certainly didn't settle the tummy to say the least.

By the time we got back to the room, my stomach was doing somersaults and I hunched over the toilet preparing to eject the delicious burger. Thankfully, the food managed to stay down & after a few deep breaths, we were all go again.

It was now 12pm, and we were officially on lock down. Tali busted out the biggest kit of make up I had ever seen, and got to work on Amanda whilst I popped our first bottle of Moët;

She was a big job. Totally joking, Amanda's a giant babe so Tali breezed through it. The girls 'look' was pretty natural, some smooth colour, a few highlights, standard mascara & a flick of liner, tied together with a dash of pink lippy. All working beautifully with their navy gowns.

Somewhere around lunchtime, our photographers Hambo & Bryony had magically appeared and were busy taking amazing shots without us even knowing (ninjas!)

So whilst they clicked away, we sat back, had a number of laughs, and let Tali & our lovely hairdressers work their magic;

At this point, the champagne had gone straight to my permed head and I could not stop giggling. We were playing some Supertramp, all feeling really relaxed, and just generally having a brilliant time.

Meanwhile, in the other camp on the opposite side of the villa, Hambo was working his magic and the boys were easing into this suit wearing business;

Final product;

(There are that many good pictures I am on struggle street picking just a few by the way)

Everything seemed to click onto fast forward by around 2:30pm, and with the ceremony fast approaching, it was time to paint my face and slip into the frock. My 'look' was fairly simple, the only difference from the bridesmaids was the bright red lippy and the floral crown (Blake had a matching one which was far too friggen sweet)

Tali did such a magnificent job, she slaved away on our portraits for 5 hours straight, and didn't complain once when my twitching face couldn't keep still. Ok maybe once...

Dress time!

Trying to lift those bad boys up

Voila!

With the last minute touch ups completed (including Libby reaching up under my dress and pulling my underwear off as you could see the lines) we were good to go!

To be continued....
