Hey everyone, how are you all doing?
Well just like that, our little slice of paradise is over. We had an absolutely incredible time over there, the Balinese are such beautiful & hospitable people.
The journey there wasn't the best as we arrived in Bali at midnight expecting to be in and out in half an hr, but it turns out organisation is not high on the priority list at Ngurah Rai airport. We waited in the most painful line for hours to get through customs (I have nil patience for lines), and all the while we had groups of Korean & Chinese tourists just staring (jaw to the floor literally) at Blake strapped to Oli in the baby ergo & then at my protruding belly. It was like they had never seen anything so amazing in their lives?! Humorous for approx 20mins, frustrating beyond belief for approx 1.5 hours.
Anyway, we finally checked into our hotel at 2:30am & hit the hay in our luxuriously spacious super king bed. We need one of those in our everyday lives, both of us starfishing every night was amazing! None of this snuggling crap- we were lapping up that space.
On our first morning we ventured out wearily to our buffet breakfast & after gobbling down some incredible pancakes with syrup (straight into holiday mode) we then headed up to reception to meet our nanny. Wywan was one of the loveliest, most humble woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Blake automatically loved her and would light up each morning she arrived, infact it was quite concerning by the end of our trip as she was blatantly reaching out for Wywan when I would pick her up for a cuddle...
Best mates.
We stayed at the "Bali Dynasty" for our first 3 nights which is a great family orientated hotel that Oli and I had stayed at before, this was the only accom we pre booked as we wanted to venture out of Kuta for the rest of our holiday and check out different resorts. I had spent a lot of time researching before we left & "Semara Resort" in Seminyak was top of my list so on our first day we went there to check it out whilst Blake bonded with the nanny. Within 10 mins we had booked a room for the remainder of our trip. Although it isn't exactly the cheapest place to stay- it was phenomenal, huge rooms with beautiful stone bathrooms and a private outdoor area with daybeds. The pool area was my personal fav with daybeds surrounded by four poster curtains for a bit of privacy, a huge pool & a kiddies pool which was perfect for Blake to splash about in. I'd say I spent a good 90% of my entire trip out on those daybeds reading my kindle & ordering food at my feet.
Most of our time was spent in the pool, out at cafes / restaurants & out shopping. Bartering for things is so exciting initially, but by the end of the trip we were over having to bargain for everything we bought. We got a few goodies though, the markets over there are currently full to the brim with flowy dresses which was handy for me in my current state, all for around 50,000 rupiah too ($5aud). Seminyak was definitely the best spot for shopping, there was not only markets but proper stores too with so many cute kids stores- B came back with a new summer wardrobe. As if she didn't have enough already. Seminyak was also incredible for food choices, some highlights for us were; Grocer & Grind, The Deck, Biku, Ku Te Da, Rumours, & Motel Mexicola which is a super trendy spot with the funkiest mexican decor
One thing we had on our must-do list was to scout out some wedding venues. Unfortunately the one day we picked to check some out was one of the only rainy days, but we headed out to Uluwatu anyway and found our winner. It was actually the only place we looked at and I immediately couldn't imagine getting hitched anywhere else. Uluwatu is famous for its cliff side ocean views so there are a heap of villas up there specifically designed for weddings and this one in particular just totally blew my mind
This is the view from where the ceremony would take place- on a rainy day. If it looks that good on a rainy day I can't even imagine on a typical sunny day. Perfection.
So now we have a venue in mind we just have to sit down, crunch some numbers & figure out if we can afford it! Watch this space...
Here's a few more snaps of what went on over there;
So all in all we got exactly what the doctor ordered & now we are happy to be back (I think) and slowly sliding back into routine, today will consist of my first workout in far too long & then Christmas decorating (wooohoooooo!!) I'm actually far too thrilled about this. Can anyone else actually not believe it is in 3 weeks? Rahh!
Olis bday is on the 23rd too, double whammy. I don't even know where to start with him or what to buy Blake for Xmas either? Anyone have any bright suggestions?
Hope all is good with everyone anyway & I'll be giving you some bump updates soon!
Thought of the day "I will not eat chocolate today, I will not eat chocolate today"
